It was love at first sight with this one. I met Kirsten at Texas Style Council and our affair quickly began. (We're here and we're queer!) Kirsten is hilarious, ultra witty, an insanely talented web designer, and get this, she used to be a model! Like a real, legit model.
Kirsten's blog, Triple Max Tons, is reflective of all of her characteristics I just mentioned. She writes mostly about design and style but always in a clever voice that is completely her own. The blog, itself, is clean and inviting - which I guess is what happens when you're a design extraordinaire.
Kirsten hails from Austin so our relationship is long distance. But I've made the 3 hour trek, recently actually, and Kir showed me a good time in a few of the places she mentions below. So read on up and then hop over to her blog and check it out for yourself. I guarantee you'll like it tons....as in triple max tons!
-LET THE INTERVIEW BEGIN-
NAME:
Kirsten!
BLOG:
CITY OF RESIDENCE:
Austin, Texas USA
FAVE PLACES TO SHOP IN AUSTIN:
I'm slightly upping the ante on this one, because Austin is one uber-stylish city. I mean, it is the natural habitat of the Texas hipster, after all. There aren't many chain stores in the downtown area at all, and I personally love that. Here are a coupe home-grown boutiques I can't get enough of.
FAVE PLACES TO EAT IN AUSTIN:
Last weekend, my dad asked my husband what his favorite thing about living in Austin is. John blurted out "THE FOOD." That's my Dad's cue to get all huffy and offended he didn't say living near my parents, but hey....I have to admit, the food in Austin is phenomenal. Here are a couple places I like to frequent.
DESCRIBE YOUR BLOG IN 5 WORDS OR LESS:
Oooh, this is kind of like writing the first line of a haiku. I love writing haikus. Let's go with "Musings on design and stuff I want but am not allowed to buy." Oh shoot....that was 13 words. I am not so good at this.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT BLOGGING?
Hands down, the best part of blogging is the community. I have met so many amazing people that I wouldn't otherwise have even known existed that already feel like my bff. Weird? Definitely...sometimes I feel like a mega creeper emailing total strangers asking them out for a cup of coffee to talk blogs, style, and design. It works though - being relatively new to Austin, I have met over half of my friends here through blogging! Blogging also re-opened the flood gates of artistic creativity for me, and pushed me to pursue my other passions - like art and graphic design. The right side of my brain couldn't be happier about that.
WHAT CAN BE DIFFICULT ABOUT BLOGGING?
Not comparing my blog to others. There is always going to be a blog with more followers, stellar photography, and laugh out loud stories (ahem...Megan!!). Comparison really does rob the fun out of the blogging experience, so I try and remind myself why I started Triple Max Tons: to share the things I love, to get inspired, and stay creative. Also, avoiding blogger guilt is a tough one. There's usually some sort of guilty feeling lingering because it always feels like I should be doing more! I am not a pro blogger, and my freelancer schedule often means I am juggling a couple different projects at any given time. Sometimes I don't get in 5 posts a week, sometimes I don't comment back on other blogs, and sometimes I just don't have any energy left at the end of the day to bang out a post. It's a bummer, but that's the reality!
THREE BLOGS YOU READ RELIGOUSLY:
FAVE RAPPER:
Well, Jay-Z immediately came to mind....but then I read a bunch of other Meg's Must Reads, and I am going break away from that typical white girl answer and say Ludacris! But only the Luda back in the early 2000s when he was rocking that fantastic afro. When I'm not shaking my groove thang to hip-hop, I like listening to Kings of Leon, Incubus, Regina Spektor, and Johnny Cash.
