Booker's Back Pack

Y'all know my dog, Booker? He recently got a back pack. It was a gift from my mom. We told her thank you and all but weren’t really sure what to do with it. I mean, it’s a back pack for a dog.
So I did what I always do when I'm in a puzzling predicament - I googled it. "What's for dinner", for example, is a common search performed in my house. Or "resuscitating dead plant." But googling "back pack for dogs" only resulted in all sorts of hiking sites.

I don't think Booker hikes. I know for sure that I don't. I did it once and it didn't end well. Turns out I'm more of a 5 Star Resort person than an Inca Trail person. I'm just sorry I had to learn that the hard way. Though, probably not as sorry as the people I was hiking with.

But all this hiking talk is a moot point because as you'll see below, I came up with an AMAZING idea for the pack.

BEER!!

BEER IN THE BACK PACK!!

Amazing, right? We used Coors Light but I'm sure any bottled lager would do just fine. Now anytime Danny wants a beer, he just calls the dog's name and Booker sprints over to him with a cold beer in tow. No getting off the couch or anything. (Danny is not much of a hiker either.)

Unfortunately, its not as cool for me because I don't drink beer. And a wine bottle is too big. So for the time being, I've been putting York Peppermint Patties in there. Just until I can figure something else out.

It's a pretty great idea though, right? I highly recommend it for those of you with dogs. Or cats.

  1. thats awesome...he looks like he can fly for a special needs dog...you should try it and if someone gives you a hard time just play it off like you cant hear or something...ok, i know that sounded wrong but what the heck...it's worth a shot right? oh and a flask will fit in his backpack...no hard liquor? just buy a funnel for help with your wine. :)

  2. i'm so getting my dog back pack out of the closet. I think I will just strap it to her and fill it up with beer and ice packs and let her roam around until i am thirsty. best/laziest dog trick ever. move over dog who can fetch a diet coke from the closed fridge. beer dog is here to stay.

  3. I think you need the ice packs if the peppermint patties stay in there too long & you're "hiking" outside with Booker. Great idea "OutofGoldStars."
Don't they have little bottles of wine? Or those little bottles of alcohol?
Or he can carry your cell phone, house phone, laptop (or new ipad?), etc. definitely needs to carry your camera. He's so darn cute!

  4. I would *never* put a back pack on a cat. Because the cat will climb onto your bed and exact a terrible vengeance on you while you sleep!
