I assume by now, everyone has heard the story about the Colorado high school senior and her yearbook drama?
Basically this girl, Sydney, submitted these photos to be published in her yearbook as her senior pictures.
Um, they're sorta slutty.
The high school yearbook committee, comprised exclusively of students, said 'no way' and deemed the pics inappropriate.
I can relate though, because my senior pic was equally controversial.
I think the concern was that it was overall "too amazing." Which clearly it was.
This is hilarious! My high school wouldn't let you wear jeans with holes in them... much less look slutty in your yearbook photo!
ReplyDeleteI can understand completely why they wouldn't allow it. Especially if they had a precedent set already from a few years before. I really don't understand why the family made such a big deal of it.
ReplyDeleteI love that the second picture was her and mom's compromise picture, and the yearbook STILL shot it down. They let her buy an ad though!
ReplyDeleteI can see how your senior pic would be equally controversial. That is a quite sexual pose you've got going on.
ReplyDeleteStopping by your blog after your comment on mine for Mingle Monday!
ReplyDeleteAnd wow-- I had heard the story but didn't see the pictures. SO glad the students in the committee said no. Definitely do not think those are appropriate. I think my rule would be if you can't wear the outfit to school, it would be a no-go for the yearbook.
I thought the yearbook photos were supposed to be some what uniform and then the add pages were for the pictures that you wanted in there. Most people in my highschool put pictures from through out the year and things but to each their own.
ReplyDeleteHa! Thanks Tara! A sexual pose was precisely what I was going for.
ReplyDeletehaha, I think that if the yearbook committee is comprised of students, it is more fair for THEM to judge what is appropriate at their age than for adults. Everyone knows that sometimes your parents and teachers don't know what's "in"... I wonder how her parents felt about her plastering these all over the place...
ReplyDeleteThere's no doubt that she's beautiful, but the pictures aren't even that good. It looks like they were taken at an apartment complex. Is she climbing the wall in that black mesh dress? She looks ridiculous. She'd have served herself better to put in a head shot as her senior photo, the same kind that she'd be presenting at a modeling job interview.
ReplyDeleteI would think the yearbook pictures would have the same dress code as any regular school day. Most schools around here do require that you wear a shirt!
ReplyDeleteOh k...what a skank. I never looked like that in HS. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI was on the yearbook staff at my high school, and we probably wouldn't have let those go through either! We wouldn't even let people submit photos of the students as babies if they were nude due to someone complaining it was "child pornography". It's ridiculous.
ReplyDeletei can't believe you posted that picture of yourself...i mean who knew plaid could be so controversial :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, where are her parents?!
ReplyDeleteThey sure didn't make em' like that when I was in high school
ReplyDeleteYep, pretty slutty. It's embarrassing, sort of like lifting your shirt on Bourbon St for beads.... Like who does this?
ReplyDeletei am glad they banned the photos. the first one looks like she is trying to audition for a playboy shoot and the second looks like she is trying to sit down on an invisible toilet. her parents should be ashamed they allowed these!
ReplyDeleteyours on the other hand...is totally controversial..let me not even get started on it!
Well, I think you're funny! How is everything going with the ovca right now? Found you through my blog, thanks for connecting. :)
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha, I love it. I was a little shocked by the CO girl's pics... but then it really made me start to wonder about her parents. But that's a different rant for a different day. :)
