Macy Carter, 14 months, wearing a top that used to be mine |
Knowing that, it should come as no surprise that one of the things I've enjoyed best about motherhood is dressing Macy up in the clothes that were mine when I was her age. Sure, there is something to be said about the whole generational aspect of it all - it's neat that I'm dressing my child in the very textiles that my mother dressed me. But really, it's just the "who wore it best" aspect that gets me all enthusiastic. So let's get down to it, shall we?
//WHO WORE IT BEST?//
The piece in question: A nautical inspired, velour jumpsuit garnished with lace and red ribbon.
Left: Macy is sporting the vintage number with skinny jeans, moccasins, and a chevron head band. The top is styled backwards, which I didn't necessarily realize at the time, but given how it looks on "the opponent"- I feel I made the right choice.
Right: That's me. In 1982, I wore the jumpsuit, in full, to achieve a half "naval academy officer", half "nurse with tights" look that was big in the 80's. The styling of the bow deserves attention as well. I enjoy how it's not on top of my head, nor on the side - but resting, oddly, at an exact 45 degrees. Well played, mom, well played.
THE END
P.S. If you enjoyed this post, surely you'll love this one as well.
I see the Halpin red! Miss Mace is more chic.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful. Bravo Macy!
ReplyDeleteGreat "who wore it best" choice. Difficult, since I love both those little girls to pieces. In your Mom's defense, it was a real plus that you had any hair to put a bow in! And I believe in 1982, one wore a headband as a "get that hair out of your eyes before you go blind" instead of as a fashion accessory. :)
ReplyDeletePLEASE DO THIS AGAIN! And title it "Bitch Stole My Look"
ReplyDeleteMAKE THIS A SERIES. LOOOOVE it. xo, Julie
ReplyDeleteMacy is definitely rocking the velour & she has my vote :)
ReplyDeleteThey make skinny jeans for babies now?! Macy wins, but I may be biased...
