Teeth. Specifically, white ones. That's what we're going to be talking about today folks c/o Smile Brilliant. This company not only sent me custom made whitening trays based on my teeth, but they're going to do the same for one of y'all as well. But first, a few things.
Because I don't really know anything about teeth whitening, I was just going to play this video for you and call it a day.
Fortunately for you guys however, I just happened to have a dentist appointment this week and told my hygienist about this imminent post I'd be penning. She, scared for me and my lack of qualifications, gave me a crash course on the subject. Here are the three things she said that I found most interesting;
3 Interesting Teeth Whitening Facts
1. Coffee and Red Wine are the two things that stain your teeth most. Obvs. But did you know that if you drink your coffee with cream (or almond milk in my case) that it's not as bad because as the milk dilutes the coffee's staining power.
2. A lot of people whiten their teeth every other day. Don't! What the whitening gel essentially does is opens your teeth's pores so the effective ingredient can get in there and do its thing. But if you do a day on/day off regimen the pores will keep closing in-between sessions. When you start a whitening regimen, do it consecutively. You want to get your teeth's pores open and keep them open.
*Pores isn't the right word. She called it something else, but its the same concept. Work with me here.
3. Don't whiten your top teeth and bottom teeth at the same time because then you won't be able to tell if its working. Start with the top so you can have a constant baseline in the bottom teeth. (Or visa versa.)
In regards to Smile Brilliant specifically, I've been impressed as was my hygienist based on what I told her. Smile Brilliant started by sending me molds so they could make a custom trays for my teeth. Full disclosure, I've only used them once so far. Only because I'm really lazy.
