DIY ST. PATS PROJECT FOR KIDS

St. Patricks Day in college and during my early 20's in Chicago was THE BEST. Sure, setting your alarm at 8am to get up and start drinking had its challenges, but I think we can all agree it was a champagne problem. (Usually literally.)

Now that I am a parent, however, getting bombed (or....wait for it.....car bombed) before 9am is frowned upon.  I therefore came up with the following kid friendly/booze free game to play with Macy next Thursday as a way to still make the day special while educating her about our family's Irish Heritage. (More the first reason though as Macy's adopted and Mexican. Plus, as it turns out, I know shockingly little about my Irish roots.)

So without further ado, here's the DIY St. Pat's Game Mace and I will be playing next week;

ST PATRICK DAY GRAND PRIZE GAME

Step 1. Line up mason jars in a row.

Step 2. Present your child their "pot of gold".
Shhhhh! They're rolos.

Step 3. Have your child toss their gold into the line of jars, starting closest to farthest.
Each time they get a piece of gold in a jar - they get a prize! A  high five works too.

And that my friends, is the game - just how the real Irish do it.

My work here is done.

Happy Early St. Patricks Day from me and Mace!
