MARDI GRAS

All good things must come to end. FRIENDS, college, painkiller prescriptions, and most recently - my Florida vacay.  The road trip back from Florida was every bit as eventful as the trip there. (Which is saying a lot. Read about it here.)

Mobile, Alabama serves at the half way point between Houston and Naples so we planned to spend the night there. Little did we know, however, that Mardi Gras would be in full swing! Perfect!

Me, Macy, and my Dad in downtown Mobile
Not gonna lie - I didn't have high expectations for Mobile. But the hotel we stayed at was gorgeous (not to mention dog friendly!) and even Mobile's downtown was really cute and reminiscent of New Orleans.  My Dad and I gave ourselves a little walking tour before the parade commenced that evening.

We immediately ran into this guy who, despite his sizable cart, was selling only three items - pimp hats, cotton candy, and inflatable Scooby Doos. I don't know that I need to comment on that combination. Pretty sure its speaks for itself.

Ha! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree y'all! Thankfully Macy is adopted and therefore will potentially be spared from whatever DNA we possess that makes us think this sort of thing is hilarious.

And then this happened....

Just to clarify on what you're seeing here - that's me, posing with a beer (Coors Light), only to be photobombed by the PoPo!

Of course their presence was unbeknownst to me, so I kept posing......

Apparently you can have open containers at Mardi Gras, otherwise this post would likely have a very different ending.

Good stuff though, no? As I've mentioned before, I'm continuously working on my street credit and I think this photo lends itself quite nicely to that. Definitely framing it! (And definitely hiding it when Macy's adoption social worker comes over!)

Unfortunately we didn't get to see much of the parade as the music, crowds, and horses were freaking out the baby - and I don't mean Macy, but Booker. Booker is way more high maintenance than Macy.

In conclusion, Mobile, Alabama  - you're alright. See you next time!

P.S. Happy Valentines Day everyone - especially you Dan Silianoff!
P.P.S. - Happy Birthday Ashley!
